At Inspirasi Schools, teaching young children is more than delivering lessons, it is about creating meaningful experiences every day. As an early years teacher, I walk into the classroom with a clear plan: what to teach, how to teach it, and what I hope the children will learn.
But very quickly, I am reminded that teaching in the early years is not just about following a plan. It is about finding the balance between logic, imagination, and a very high level of patience.
Young children are naturally curious. They ask questions that can be simple, yet sometimes surprisingly deep. A lesson about colors can suddenly turn into a discussion about why the sky is blue, or why the leaves are green. These moments are not interruptions but they are opportunities. Logic helps guide the learning, while imagination allows me to connect with how children see and understand the world.
In the classroom, imagination is everywhere. A cardboard box can become a car, a house, or even a spaceship. A simple story can turn into a whole new adventure. As a teacher, I learn to step into their world and support their creativity and encourage exploration, because children learn best when they feel engaged and connected to what they are doing.
At the same time, I also see how important structure is. Clear routines, consistent guidance, and a safe learning environment help children feel secure and ready to learn. Finding the balance between freedom and structure is something I value deeply in my daily teaching.
And then, there is patience.
Patience is needed in almost every moment. Whether a child is learning to manage their emotions, practicing how to share, or simply taking their time to complete a task. These are all important parts of their development. This is also where one of our core values, empathy, becomes real in everyday practice.
I’ve learned that understanding each child’s feelings is just as important as guiding their learning. Through empathy, I try to listen more carefully, respond more thoughtfully, and support each child with kindness and respect.
Of course, not every day goes as planned. Some activities take longer, some moments are louder, and some require more attention than expected. In those moments, patience becomes a daily choice, to stay calm, to understand, and to respond with care.
Despite the challenges, teaching young children is deeply rewarding. Their laughter is genuine, their curiosity is endless, and their growth—no matter how small—is always meaningful.
At Inspirasi Schools, education is not only about what children learn, but also about how they grow as individuals. As teachers, we guide them with logic, nurture their imagination, and support them with empathy every step of the way.
Because in the end, education is not just about learning but about growing into who they are meant to be.
